I went to the Baraboo River this weekend to see if I could find any flatheads on the river. The river was full of fish but it wasn't a particularly good Catfishing day. However, I did manage 1 channel and 1 flathead so it was ok in the end.
I went to a new spot on the upper Rock River near Ixonia to fish for big fish. There's a wayside park near a bridge that looked really good. Unfortunately the water was really low there but there were lots of carp, catfish, and buffalo there.
Wisconsin's Sturgeon fishing season changed this year as they expanded catch and release fishing for Sturgeon all the way from June 7th to next March. I went with some friends on opening weekend to see if we could catch the big monster. While I did get a sturgeon, I did not get the one I wanted.
I went to Yellowstone Lake State Park to catch some crappie. I thought there were only channel catfish in the lake but I actually caught a flathead! It was totally unexpected and may make me go to that lake more.
I went to Belleville to fish the pond because I know at this time of the year, the crappies bite like crazy. They did bite like crazy but were really small. Caught dozens of them but still on the look out for bigger ones.
I went to Waunakee to pick up some bucket hats and decided to stop by at the town center pond to try my luck with lures and fathead minnows. The lures caught nothing but the Fathead Minnows were on fire.
I went to fish the lower Wisconsin River by Prairie Du Sac for the first time this year and it was decent. The Water is not warm enough for the summer but I still did manage bass, walleye, Drum, and a 41 inch Sturgeon.
I went to goose lake to fish for Crappie and Bass like I do every spring and I got both but it was the carp that was biting the best. The bass were not biting that well and the crappie did not hit until after dark.
I went to the Fox River at Pardeville to fish for early season catfish and walleye. The catfishing was pretty good as I caught a bunch, but the walleye was not as I did not get many walleye bites.
Since every other fishing spot was flooded, I decided to head to centaur chute to fish for blue catfish. The gauge was at 22.5ft, which is very high. It crested the day before but the high current attracts blues. Ended up getting 2 blues that night.
