Over 1,000 attendees to include students, parents, faculty and volunteers from Travis and Scandia Elementary Schools participated in today's Freedom Walk. Participants met at the Airman and Family Readiness Center where they held a rally, read poems, listened to speeches and patriotic music from USAF Band of the Golden West. Travis Honor Guard members performed a flag folding ceremony while a recording of the history of the Stars and Stripes played in the background. Col. Thomas C. Pauly, vice commander, 60th Air Mobility Wing also thanked the students for the courage they display when their parents have to deploy. The Freedom Walk is held every year in memory and to honor the 3,000 Americans that perished on Sept. 11, 2001. The children formed what seemed to be an ocean of red white blue as they waved their flags proudly during the event. (USAF Photo by T.C. Perkins Jr./Released)
