Today was the first warm day in a while in Wisconsin and I headed to the Crawfish River at Danville for some good Fishing action. There weren't too many biting as the water was really cold but I did get one big bite.
Went to Koshkonong Creek to throw around some bass lures and to use worms to fish for carp, suckers, or whatever bites worms today. Was a pretty good trip as I caught a 25 inch Northern and a 30-inch Northern plus a few suckers. Not bad for a cold spring day.
Since the water is mainly still cold on the rivers and the season opener is not here yet, I have decided to fish a few Park Ponds to see what fish are biting there. Was hoping to catch an elusive bass at Orchard heights but it was not to be, as I could only catch bluegills, bullheads, and carp.
Since they nuked my original fishing spot in favor of kayakers, I went to Cherokee Marsh for some fishing action. Was trying to catch some largemouth bass and catfish but the Pike keep getting in the way.
I went to Busch Lakes on the last day of my stay in St. Louis and finally caught a decent fish in Lake 33. I also got a small bass but to finish with a decent 6lb channel Catfish after a couple of times trying at Busch Lakes felt really good.
I took two days to fish the Big River this week. The water temperature still seems a bit low for the really big fish to bite but I did manage to catch a lot of the small ones.
So I went to Centaur Chute followed by Klondike Park the next day to fish the Missouri and April 1st is the start of Paddlefish season and even though I was targeting blue catfish, I actually caught one of these rare fish. I also caught a few blues include a decent 9 pounder.
Went fishing for 2 days at fishpot creek on the Meramec and only 1 type of fish ever bit the hook, the freshwater drum. I did get one spotted bass off a worm but none of the lures ever got any bites. No white bass or walleye as I was hoping.
As the ice unfreezes, I went to the Yahara at Dunkirk today and it paid off. Not only did I catch the first open water bass of 2022, I also caught my first big fish of 2022 as well. Wasn't that much action but it was worth going.
