I went to Busch Lakes #33, also known as Kraut Run lake for New year's eve. Daylight hours were uneventful but at night, they started to Gato. Ended up only catching two small ones but it was a decent way to send off 2021.
Went to lake Columbia for some winter warm water fishing again since I can't get anything anywhere else. Had to wait until nightfall again for the big bite and it pulled my pole into the water! I had to jump in the water to grab the pole and get the fish. It was worth it!
As the weather gets really cold in Wisconsin, we have to look for unfrozen patches of water to fish. So we come to the only heated lake in Wisconsin(at least it will be there until 2024), lake Columbia. This lake has lots of dinky little channels but also a few really big flatties which is what I was after. I finally caught one at night. It wasn't huge, but it was satisfying.
I spent two days fishing the Lower Meramec area and it was still active with fish. Only the drum were really biting but its snagging season in Missouri so I caught a decent buffalo and a gar as well.
Went fishing the last few days of the Holiday for Thanksgiving on the Mighty Missouri. It wasn't so mighty since the water is very low. I did get a decent blue Catfish but not much else except dinks and eaters. The 60lb fish still eludes my grasp......
Went to Albany for two days and while it wasn't the greatest two days of fishing, it was still a blast to fish. I lost a lot of fish that I had hooked though. In the end, I pulled up 2 pike and a bunch of suckers, including my PB Silver Redhorse Sucker.
Spent two days about 2-3 weeks apart fishing at Tenney park Lagoon and it was pretty good. I was after walleye but didn't catch any. They were in the breakwater but I could not get any to hit my lures. However, the gatofish were still there and I got 2 good ones.
In the last few warm days of the year, I headed over to Decatur dam to bass and catfish. Only caught 1 catfish but it was a decent one. Several suckers were also caught but I still have not caught a Fish of Death there yet.
The cold weather has arrived. This means that its time that I stopped fishing for Catfish and started going after the Big Fishes of Death(Northern Pike). I don't fish for the pike family in the Summer Months but once the water gets too cold for Catfish, piking begins in earnest. Got 2 pike on this little adventure which is not a bad start and looking to get more.
Went fishing with Kyle today and while I only caught a carp at the first location and then we caught a rock bass and a few walleye at another location, it was the third location that really paid off. Kyle caught a 50 inch Muskie and that was a huge wrap for a night!!
