Spent some time at the big dam at Indianford lately. I was mainly fishing for catfish and ended up using cut drum and cut bluegill as bait. Didn't get the massive flatheads I was after but I did get a few big channel cats.
Spent 2 days in the dells. One at Lake Delton Spillway and the other on the Wisconsin river. Ended up catch 6 or 7 species and some really nice fish and learnt a lot about the fishery there at different places.
Fished at the Ferry on Lake Wisconsin again for 2 days. Caught a lot of smallmouth and white bass on Rapala lures. Got a big carp and a catfish as well and a unexpected yellow perch off a worm. Pretty fun 2 days but did not get that monster buffalo I was looking for.
Went to Montello yesterday to fish the young fox river. Its the same river that runs through lake Winnebago and empties out into Green Bay but just much sooner in its course. Caught a few Catfish, a drum, and lost a big bass but a fun day.
Went to Prairie du Sac dam finally. I've been avoiding it all summer due to the fact that there are alot of snags and its usually crowded. But there are lots of baitfish in the water which draws big predators. Caught a big Walleye which was a PB.
Decided to buckle down and fish finally around home in Madison, WI the last few days and it payed off! Caught a huge channel Catfish after dark that almost tipped the scales at 20lbs. Biggest channel I've ever caught.
Spent two days fishing around the Wisconsin dells dam. The two days were a few days apart due to heavy rain. When I went the 2nd day, there was heavy flooding and only a small patch of land was available. Didn't catch any giants but still caught some really good fish.
Went to fish the Baraboo river again the last few days. This time I focused on Giese Park and downtown Baraboo itself. There were a lot of snags in the area unfortunately and I lost several weights/hooks in downtown Baraboo. Still had a good harvest of catfish and Drum though.
Yesterday, I decided to go to the wayside park near the Merrimac Ferry on the Lodi side of Lake Wisconsin. I had heard rumors of giant Buffalo fish there and wanted to catch one. I didn't get the monster Buffalo I was after but I did manage to get two pretty good fish and a bunch of smaller fish.
I went to Brodway Spillway three times about 3 weeks apart. I hooked a giant fish that broke my 30lb steel leader but I did manage to get several 6lb catfish and a nice bass over the days I was there.
