Went to Kilbourne Dam at Wisconsin Dells this weekend hoping to bag a monsters and boy did it deliver! It started out slow until a sacrificed a freshwater drum as cut bait to the Elder Catfish lords. Then, two big flatheads hit in quick succession. It was a great fishing day.
Went to the bridge near Hubbleton on the crawfish for a day hoping to bag myself a big fish. There were a lot of carp there but they didn't bite until nightfall. Got myself a bowfin and a big white bass as well.
Spent the day on Sunday fishing the UW campus at second point. There was a nice little place to set up and fish. It rained on and off while I was fishing but I managed a decent catfish and a few bass.
Went to Lake Wisconsin on the Wayside Park today and didn't get much until dusk. But when the sun started setting, the fish started to come on fire. Ended up with a dozen white bass, 5 walleye, and a Smallmouth, all in the span of less than an hour. Caught a few drum as well.
For the last day of Missouri Fishing, I went to Weldon Springs. Got quite a few eater size drum and many small micro catfishing. At the end of the day finally something big hit my cutbait and I got a 8.7lb blue after trying for so many days.
Since the fishing on the rivers have been disappointing due to way too many gar these days, I decided to go to river's edge park to fish. I did get a flathead, but the lake was infested with gar as well. There were plenty of bluegill to use as bait in the lake but the gar basically took the bait every time I threw it in.
Fished Boone bridge on the Missouri River today hoping to bag myself a mighty Blue Gatofish but alas, the Gar spoiled my plans. They took all my bluegills and creek chubs and I failed to get anything more than 2 small gar.
Spent some time at the big dam at Indianford lately. I was mainly fishing for catfish and ended up using cut drum and cut bluegill as bait. Didn't get the massive flatheads I was after but I did get a few big channel cats.
Spent 2 days in the dells. One at Lake Delton Spillway and the other on the Wisconsin river. Ended up catch 6 or 7 species and some really nice fish and learnt a lot about the fishery there at different places.
Fished at the Ferry on Lake Wisconsin again for 2 days. Caught a lot of smallmouth and white bass on Rapala lures. Got a big carp and a catfish as well and a unexpected yellow perch off a worm. Pretty fun 2 days but did not get that monster buffalo I was looking for.
