Finally made my way to the official Lake of Wisconsin the last few days and they were great days. First day only caught a drum and a big Catfish but the second day was big bluegills, a big Catfish, a Crappie, and a huge drum. Another PB set!
Spent a day and a half in the Green Bay area fishing for giants on the fox. First day from the boat, 2nd day from shore. While the shore fishing didn't really come up with anything, I did catch a giant Drum that was my PB, which made the trip worthwhile.
Spent two days on the Baraboo River at Giese Park right outside of Baraboo. For the most park I caught dinks and some good eater size Catfish but on the 2nd night with some minnows, the big one came and was my biggest channel catfish ever.
I went to Aztalan State Park to fish for 2 days. Its not the most fishy spot but I think there are plenty of Walleye there even though I only caught one. The spot the 2nd day was a lot better than the spot I had the first day but that spot is only available when the water level is low. Will try this spot again later in the summer with some minnows as I think it has a lot of promise.
One of the better fishing days this year came at the Crawfish and Beaver Dam Confluence Areas. The place was littered with bowfins but they always shook the hook off and I only manage to land 1 fish, but it was the biggest one. I also caught some Bass, bluegills, and a flathead.
Went to Danville Millpond for fishing and caught many fish, including both channel and flatheads. Was a very good day. The only thing I didn't catch were the really big monsters but the variety and number made up for it.
Spent two days on the Rock at Fort Atkinson. The first day I got a few bites at night but nothing big but the 2nd night, I finally landed three very nice fish including a PB bowfin on a chunk of cut Bait.
Went out fishing for big fish the last few days on the Wisconsin and the low water levels are really effecting the Fish bite. Fish are most likely all holed up in the deeper holes at this time but did manage to catch 2 PBs. Nothing huge though.
Fishing wasn't great today but I did manage to catch a PB. The creek I was fishing sometimes has good bass and catfish but today the only thing that was biting were the drum and bullheads. Water is pretty low and I may try it again later in the summer.
I have caught many catfish at various places but never have I ever caught a Madison Chain Catfish. That all changed today as I pulled in a 12.8lb Channel Catfish in the area between Cherokee Marsh and Lake Mendota. The biggest channel I've caught on Camera.
