Spent an entire day fishing Madison's Chain of lakes of Mendota, Monona, and Wingra. Have not done Waubesa and Kegonsa yet but plan to sometime along the line. Started off good with many Yellow Perch Hitting but mid day was slow and dissapointing until a suddenly flurry of activity and 3 fish at the end.
After re-assuring people that they were not going to sell out, and even making new products to enhance that facade, Olympus execs proved to be dirty little liars and now the Camera division is going to be sold. Where does that leave customers?
Humans love fast food, but what about our fishy friends? We pitted McDonalds McChicken against Wendy's Crispy chicken Sandwich against one another as a fish-off contest. Although they caught almost exclusively sunfish, one did emerge the victor.
These last few days I headed to decatur dam before I realized I didn't bring my extra Gopro batteries so I had to settle and go back to get some then headed to close-by Lake Wingra. Went to Wingra the next day as well for a good harvest of Largemouth Bass.
Had a 3-day adventure fishing the sugar river from the area near Paoli all the way to the second dam at Albany. I skipped the wildlife area because it was infested with Mosquitos. I caught many bass and sunfish and a creek chub but nothing really that big. Still in search of that massive fish.
Following Pheasant Branch conservatory to its source, we arrived at confluence pond. We fished the Dam, a stream outlet, and a drainage area and caught some pretty epic sunfish and some small bass. We will return to fish for the larger predators.
After a day of storms, the water level in pheasant branch creek was much higher than before. I was able to get below the dam on a steep hill and bag 2 fish there but the rest of the area above the dam was a wash until I got to the pond that the stream came out of where there were many big Sunfish waiting for me.
Did my first 100 mile route of the year. From Madison to Governor Dodge State Park, then out via Dodgeville and back, covering the whole length of military ridge state trail, twice. Almost all the water fountains were out of commission which made this a harder ride.
Continuing on the fishing quest. I went to Lake Belle View and fished for a little more than an hour before the sun went down. Caught multiple species of fish in a secret location.
Since the lake is full of Algae, I went to a small creek at the local Pheasant Branch conservancy to fish the stream. I heard there might be trout there. I did not catch any trout but I did catch Creek chubs, Warmouths, Gree Sunfish, and bluegills for an excellent fishing day.
