Went to another Lake Mendota park at Burrows. Its used by the local sailing club but has 2 good docks to cast off of that let you get decently deep into the lake. Got several bites and landed 2 big catfish off the dock.
I went back to Watertown today, this time at the dam. Fished a bit downstream at the deep hole and got many hits but only one Big Bite, but it was a 28lb flathead that I pulled up. The fight took a very long time.
I went to warner boat launch again to fish for Big Bass and Catfish and fished with live Bluegill. It did pay off pretty well I have to say as I got 2 big Cats and a smallmouth. I did not get the mythical flathead I was looking for but maybe next time.
I went to the dells Dam and there were a lot more snags compared to last few years. Water has gone down but still high for this time of the year. Still managed to catch a flathead and a sturgeon though.
I went to Mendota to catch some big fish at Governor Nelson State Park and was not disappointed. Even though I failed to catch the mythical Mendota Flathead, I did catch 4 big channels. I think there were some other walleye/gar bites as well but they never hooked.
I went to an Island park in Watertown to see if there were flatheads above the first dam at Watertown. Day and night started off with several channels and a bowfin but when 10pm hit, I finally bagged a decent 11lb flathead.
I went to Lake Mendota dock yesterday night and fished for a few hours from dusk until after nightfall and landed a lot of big fish. 2 Big channels, 1 big walleye, 1 good bass, and several freshwater drum.
Went to a small park in Madison with just a box of worms for an hour to see if I could get some bluegill and bass. Caught some bluegill and perch at the spot and the fish were plentiful.
I went Neighborhood Pond hopping the last few days and caught a lot of bass. One of the ponds in Sun Prairie has really good bass and has some depth to it. I caught a three pounder out of it with fathead minnows.
I went to the Canoe launch park at Jefferson to try to bag a flathead and didn't get any action until around 10:45 pm but then a huge Flattie hit and I was able to get it onto the shore.
