Finally got out and did some winter birding with the Nikon P1000. I only concentrated on birds that were perched or still since the P1000's AF system cannot track birds in motion very well and try to track a small flying object at 3000mm zoom is near impossible. The p1000 at 3000mm zoom, lets you get super close to the birds but it is very hard to hold it still enough so the bird is at the center of the frame, especially if you try to get the bird to fill the entire frame. Its also hard for the camera to autofocus right when the bird is obscured by branches.
To dispel rumors and misinformation, Canon has stated that the R5 has uncropped 8k recording with Dual pixel AF in all 8k modes. It will also have Body AF, Face AF, and Eye AF. So everyone is going to be making awesome 8k videos soon, right?
I love camera gear but its very expensive. I have stocked up on certain supplies and am selling them in this time of need at high prices to fund the over $17,000 worth of Camera gear that I need to buy. Perhaps you may want some of this.
This weekend I went hiking at Spring Green Conservatory up the bluff. It took us a while to find the parking lot but the view from the top was pretty good as it was a clear day. It is one of those hidden areas not many know about but it is a good hike on the way up.
Rumors of the I-phone 12 say it has a 64mp Sony sensor. Apple probably seems the heat from Samsung's 108mp sensor and needs to fight back with one of its own. But how will 64mp cellphone sensor be stabilized and how will it perform in lower light?
The Nikon D6 production has been delayed due to delays in Chinese Manufacturing. We also know that the Canon 1DX III is delayed. This leaves the Sony A9 II as the only game in town.
I love the Nikon P1000 but there are a few things missing from this awesome camera that I would really love to see. I want full manual controls, better subject tracking, animal eye-AF, and more panorama and stacking options.
Canon announced that its M5 Mark II, an update to a favorite vlogging camera is coming in October. I expect it to be in the $800 with 4k vlogging capabilities.
Nikon is going to make the Z8 and the mirrorless version of the D850, both 60.8mp cameras that look like they will use the Sony A7RIV sensor. Since they are using the same sensor and are coming out with a camera a year later, I think they should try to make an upgraded version of the A7RIV. I think they both need 4k@60. The D850 replacement should have 1 SD slot and 1 CFexpress slot whereas the Z8 should have 2 CFexpress slots. I don't think 8k is necessary because very few will use it, I would opt to keep the camera cheaper than to add 8k. It should make 20fps Electronic and 10fps mechanical shutter and Eye AF and Animal Eye-AF.
Canon is going to release its G9x Mark III soon and to be its another lower-tier point and shoot, a market that has become completely unnecessary. It only offers 4x zoom, which is available in many upper end cellphones and even though the 1 inch sensor will provide better IQ, its still now low-light show-stopper.
