Arsenal Photography App, Worth a look?

One of my friends directed me to the Arsenal Photography App at With Arsenal. It seems pretty interesting and is in the crowdfunding stages of the app. The pre-order is $185 and this project is a combination of hardware and a phone app that lets the camera automatically detect the surrounding environment and adjust the exposure to take the best photos. Most interesting is the fact that it can do stacking in-camera so you can see what the stacked image looks like out in the field instead of having to come back to your computer to do it yourself. This feature alone for me might be worth the price of admission. Let me know what you think.

One of the most popular lenses is the 50mm f/1.8 prime lens. Its cheap, fast, and takes casual photos very well. There are two options when it comes to this lens for Nikon users, the Yongnou 50mm f/1.8 prime at $77 and the Nikon 50mm F/1.8 prime at $216. So how do these compare. DJIA Phantom 5 rumors - Interchangable lens camera?

03/26/2018

We now have rumors about the DJIA phantom 5 drone. The big news is that it is rumored to have an interchangable lens(ILC) camera on it. This could mean more focused aerial views of the ground, trees, perhaps even wildlife without having to be in a helicopter for normal people. I expect the price to be around $1400.

Nikon not updating the D610/D750 a mistake?

03/12/2018
Categories:

There are people who are telling me that Nikon will not be updating the D610 or D750 in their DSLR models and will only be updating the D850 and above models in their lineup while pursuing a mirror-less camera with a different mount. I think this is a big mistake because now neither Canon or Nikon have anything that is competitive in the $2000 full-frame range with the A7III which is basically superior to both of them in just about every way. People who are coming into this range for a full-frame camera often are locking themselves into a line for full-frame glass too and many eventually upgrade to a higher model like the D850, 5d Mark IV, or A7RIII. Letting go of this section of the market means that people are going to be upgrading more to the Sony line than the Canon or Nikon ones and I think this could prove to be a crucial mistake for Nikon down the line.

Does the Nikon Management Team need some new Faces?

03/08/2018

Last year an article reported that the corporate Nikon Team in Japan was composed of all Japanese Guys with no women and foreigners. Aside from the D850, most of their recent decisions have been a flop and they were in the red in 2016 financially. Is it high time to get some diversity and new faces in the room for better decisions?
