That argument always sounded like a "I know my Camera is inferior but I just can't admit it" argument to me. This has become more common after the release of the uninspiring 6d Mark II Camera. Technical specifications identify the upper limit of a camera's abilities and needs to be used to compare cameras when two equally capable photographers are using them.
