I went to the Northern Fox River after a conference hoping to catch some big flatheads but instead caught several large channels. Seems like the area was full of Yellow Perch as well.
Went to fish the Lake Wisconsin to fish the bench by the ferry. Brought a lot of minnow that did no good but the worms did catch me a few panfish that I used to catch a flathead right under the docks.
I went fishing from an Island in the middle of the Wisconsin River. It was great fun and we caught one flathead and sever channels. There are tiny suckers there but I did not bring the net. Lesson learned for next time.
Went to the Merrimac Ferry again to fish for catfish at night and I actually caught one! Sw a guy pull up a small flathead and I got a big channel on the dock. I did see a lot of minnows near the actual ferry so I will have to try that sometime.
I went to one of the fishing piers on Lake Wisconsin to try my luck for Crappie and Catfish. While I did not get any big Catfish, I did manage to get some smallmouth bass and crappies.
Went to Darlington on the Pecatonica to fish for catfish. A decent Smallie spot as well. I caught a couple of Madtoms and used them as bait hoping for a big flathead. Water level was much higher than usual in the summer. Did ok with 3 channel cats but unfortunately, no flatheads.
It was burning hot today but I went out for an hour to a small spillway and floated some worms down the creek to see if I could pick up some bass and bluegills. Ended up getting three bass and dozens of little bluegills before the heat got to me.
I went to the Baraboo river in downtown and found a really nice spot there, but I didn't have any bluegills to fish the laydown there. Still caught a PB carp, some suckers, and a flathead there with worms though.
Went to Brodhead to fish the actual spillway this time and there are a lot fo small bass under the spillway. I also got a channel, some turtles and got a flathead a little further downstream but I still did not get the monster I was looking for.
I've heard of people catching monsters at Janesville but have never caught one myself there. I always thought that the bridge at Traxler had potential but never caught anything aside from eater-size channel catfish there. This time I threw some live bluegills in and got good results.
