Sony unveils new 48Mp smartphone Camera sensor

Sony has announced that they are making a 48mp smartphone camera. This makes each pixel about half the length and height of a regular 12MP smartphone Camera, indicating that it is not very good in low light. However, Sony is building this Camera is the Quad Bayer design so each group of four pixels is stacked together which Sony Claims will give low light performance that is comparable to top of the line 12MP cameras. I'm not sure if it will work that well but if it does, this technology could be a breakthrough and spill over into the professional camera market.
