Gothenburg, Sweden. Skansen Kronan, a historic stone fortress, stands at the center of this aerial cityscape on a wooded rock hill in the Haga district. The six-sided redoubt has thick grey granite walls and a dark blue-green conical roof, and it is surrounded by a green park of dense summer trees, grassy clearings and exposed rock outcrops. The fortress was designed by military engineer Erik Dahlbergh and completed in 1700 with 23 cannons, yet it was never attacked. Around the hill, dense urban blocks of mid-rise apartment buildings spread in every direction. Their rooftops are mostly terracotta orange and red, mixed with cream, beige and white facades and a few dark grey roofs. Streets run in a regular grid between the buildings, and the green hillside forms a clear contrast with the warm orange roofscape. In the distance, a few taller modern towers and a slim telecommunications mast rise above the skyline, and forested hills close the horizon under a wide sky. The drone view looks across the city from above the hillside. Summer daylight and broken clouds with patches of blue sky give the scene a calm, open atmosphere. This panoramic city view works well for travel, tourism, sightseeing and European heritage themes.
