Beckman Mill was built in 1868 and is currently located about 6 miles from Beliot, Wisconsin and about half a mile north of the Wisconsin/Illinois State Line. The mill was originally called "Howe's Mill" and later "Newark Mill" before its current name. William Howe built the Mill after a distillery that stood on the land before it was burned by a fire. Through a series of acquisitions the Mill was deeded to Beckman's wife and was renamed "Newark Mill" after Beckman took over. Through Beckman and his Sons, the Mill remained operational until the 1950s. In 1977 it entered the National Register of Historical Places and a year later the Beckman family sold it to Rock County where Beckman Mill County Park now stands.
